After School Site Manager/Director

PT Positions; Monday-Friday; between 2-6:30pm

With this Part-Time Job Opportunity you will be working with children K through 5th grade. Next school year our After School Program will be in 22 locations throughout San Antonio. 17 schools in NISD, 2 schools in SWISD and 3 private locations. Starting pay for Site Managers is $8.50/hr and for Site Directors with an active Texas Directors License is $10/hr.

Our after school care Site Managers will ensure schools/sites assigned are running according to program and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) licensing standards.

He/She will perform a variety of duties for this non-profit program. Here are some Essential Job Responsibilities:

Provide for and prioritize the safety of every child. Ensure a safe environment and encourage good health and safety practices. Know and maintain child/staff ratio at all times. Intervene when a child is at risk.

Establish and maintain positive relationships with all children and with everyone involved in the program; parents, staff, school personnel, licensing and community representatives.
• Demonstrate and maintain a high level of professionalism; set the standard for all staff to follow. Promote and develop teamwork among staff; negotiate conflict and manage all difficult situations with composure.

Understand and be able to explain the values and policies of the program and organization at any given time.

Be knowledgeable of and observe all minimum standards required by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and ASK policies and procedures:
• Conduct weekly checks and follow up with Multi-Site Manger and/or the Training Department
• Follow up on licensing corrections within 24 hours of the visit. Submit in writing all non-compliance corrections to Multi-Site Manger by the next business day.

Supervise Site Staff including assigned Floaters, Subs as well as New Hires during pre-service:
• Orient new staff to the site and provide training in site specific operations
• Train and mentor all staff in best practices, policies and procedures
• Monitor performance; issue disciplinary actions as necessary, provide ongoing feedback and timely performance evaluations. Submit all documentation according to procedures
• Observe the implementation of ASK policies and procedures to ensure quality childcare; stay mobile, spend time inside and outside; interact with all groups. Provide ongoing feedback for:
o Areas needed for improvement
o Areas doing well
• Provide skills training during weekly site meetings

Perform administrative duties in a timely and accurate manner:
• Plug in and ensure site telephone is operational by 2:00 p.m. daily
• Take children’s attendance on a daily basis
• Make calls to parents of absentee children, by 3:30pm daily, to confirm the child’s whereabouts
• Maintain daily telephone communication with Multi-Site Manager
• Maintain site layout of parent’s corner, centers, etc.
• Prepare and maintain child/parent records; administrative notebook and file box
• Prepare and submit all site paperwork; attendance and relocation reports, behavior documentation, incident and illness reports, supply orders, timesheets and attendance tracking forms, etc.
• Pick up paychecks at main office; secure and take to the site; distribute to site staff
• Review staff timesheets, attendance tracking forms, mileage forms, supply order forms for accuracy; approve and forward according to procedures
• Conduct weekly site staff meetings
• Attend scheduled Site Manager meetings; Lesson Plan trainings, All Staff meetings, including kit and game appointments and any others requested by upper management

Conduct parent conferences when placing children on behavior contracts or dealing with disciplinary issues.

Provide direct child care for children; dependent upon site size and ratio requirements. Model appropriate direct child care through professional behavior and attitudes.
• Implement program curriculum and lesson plans daily
• Ensure all children are redirected and disciplined in a respectful, age appropriate manner
• Prepare and serve snacks

Participate in the planning and implementation of activities which will meet program standards and promote the goals of the program. Implement the center program for daily schedules, routines, and follow monthly lesson plans. Ensure a variety of enrichment activities and experiences, according to curriculum and lesson plans

Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED & 18 years of age or older; both are Texas Department of Family and Protective Services licensing requirements.
• 6 months to 1 year licensed child care experience is required; 1+ years preferred. 6 months to 1 year is required; 1+ years supervisory experience is preferred; 6 months to 1 year customer service focused environment preferred. Knowledge of the ASK program a plus.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion. Must be able to report at the site no later than 2:00 p.m. daily and call in by 9:00 a.m. if unable to report to work for any reason.
• Drivers License and clear record.
• Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice and be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
